About Vanessa Ortali

I’ve always been somewhat of a serial entrepreneur, looking for the deeper meaning of life and eager to make a genuine contribution to the world around me. Over the course of my career as a business coach, I’ve worked with and trained many fortune 500 companies, leaders and celebrities, but what I am most proud of is growing my women’s community—The Ladies Community (TLC)—to help women connect with themselves and others.

About The Ladies Community (TLC)

I started TLC when all of my friends were getting married, having babies and I really felt alone on my journey in a lot of ways. I wanted to create my own path and journey. Most importantly, I wanted to change what female friendships looked like. I envisioned being surrounded by supportive, uplifting, kind, successful, growth-minded women with no drama, competition, jealousy or insecurity.
Our now global community began as I met friends through Bumble BFF and as a Toronto-based Facebook group. TLC has now grown to include 20,0000+ members! We host live events, virtual workshops, online summits and are on track to become the #1 online network and resource for women globally.

How Did You Get Your First Several Customers Or Users? How Many Users Or Customers Do You Have Now?

Our first customers came through Bumble BFF and Facebook, live events we hosted and also through word of mouth/referrals. We have over 20,000 members now!

How Does Your Company Grow And Acquire New Customers?

We’ve continued to grow at a rapid rate through word of mouth/referrals, Facebook, Instagram, speaking engagements and collaborations. We’ve had no paid ads to date!

What Actionable Tips And Tricks Do You Have For New Founders Who Are Looking To Get Their First Thousand Users Or Dollars?

It’s all about mindset. Your company will only ever be as big as you are! Get a coach or a therapist and build morning and evening routines for success. Being an entrepreneur will bring up all of your fears and insecurities. Once you have a coach, you can essentially build your own “board of directors” and a support system of people who will guide you through your journey.

I always encourage people to be authentic and show up every single day—the same way you would for 100,000 people!

I also find digital strategy is key. Provide lots of value for FREE—whether it be an opt-in or free download—collect email addresses and build a database of contacts.

To break it down into 4 things to do every day, focus on:

-mindset
-building your community
-providing value
-giving a call to action and making an offer

What Is Something You’ve Learned That Would Not Be Obvious To Somebody Who Hasn’t Worked In Your Space Before?

Set yourself up financially and know what is short-term cash and long-term cash. Short-term cash is money that will pay you right now. Long-term cash is money that will pay you in the future. All entrepreneurs should know the difference so they can be set up for short-term cash before working on long-term cash projects. If something happens to your long-term cash projection you won’t be in a good spot!

What’s The Craziest Thing That’s Happened To You (Good Or Bad) On Your Founder Journey?

The craziest thing that has happened to me on my founder journey is I paid someone 53K for an app that was never delivered! Needless to say, I’m trying to figure out how to get that money back! Haha

What Are Your Favorite Books?

My favourite books are The Untethered Soul and the Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer, A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson and The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John D. Mann.

Anything You’d Like To Plug?

I have a Millionaire Mindset course I’ll be launching in the fall. You can learn more about everything I offer (including TLC) and the Millionaire Mindset at www.vanessaortali.com.
