Haines was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. She attended the State University of New York at Albany and graduated with a degree in communications. Haines started her career as a news anchor for a local station in Albany, New York. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Haines is married to actor Michael Cassidy.
